In this article, the origin of the word gijjak, the history of this musical instrument, the two-stringed gijjak in the work of Abu Nasr Farabi, the three-stringed one in Zakhiriddin Muhammad Babur’s “Baburnoma” and the role of the gijjak in creating national music.
