ARCHITECTURAL ENSEMBLES OF MEDIEVAL AZERBAIJAN

Abstract

The geopolitical position of Azerbaijan, which occupies the corner of the region, can hardly be overestimated. It has largely determined the stormy multilateral contacts, the serious state of development of modern society.

The intensity of caravan trade, the expansion of information, commercial, cultural spaces were especially relevant in the Middle Ages. One of the outstanding achievements of the era was the closest interaction of the artistic achievements of the cultures of the East and West, the inclusion of Azerbaijan in the world system of the Great Silk Road since ancient times. The origins of the architectural art of the Azerbaijani people were formed in line with the holistic general Eastern art system of pre-Islamic architecture. The key trend in organized urban planning was ensemble building, which was reflected in cities planned and built at the same time, large-scale architectural ensembles.
